Our
Story

Memory Lane Publishers was created in the late 1990's, shortly after I completed my first book, "I Miss My Time with You (A Memory Book)." This accomplishment came after many, many years of writing short stories, teaser plays and poetry, when my son was in elementary school.

My dad's consistent answer, "look it up," to me and my siblings when we asked how to spell a word, encouraged my love for the dictionary, words and books. No matter how often we asked or begged Poppie, he never wavered. Reading books and writing was my safe and happy place while growing up. If given a choice, I have always preferred to write a paper as opposed to taking a test.

Shortly after publishing "I Miss My Time with You," I began to facilitate workshops about grief and loss as a way to help market my Memory book. I initially called those workshops Grief & Loss, then Celebrate Life, now they are called, My Loss is NOT the BOSS of Me!

Once the writing bug was let loose, I continued to work on other projects and responded to invitations to contribute to other authors projects. In 2018, I retired from the Illinois Department of Children & Family Services where I was able to marry my love for writing with my work. Today, I have completed 5 individual book projects, one autobiography as a ghost writer and have contributed to three anthologies.

The Annual Day of Healing was created in response to my granddaughter and many other teens who experienced great difficulty in grasping the mandatory social distancing, remote learning and all restrictions related to COVID 19. The annual event is usually held in June, with the first one taking place in 2021. and skipped 2024. This June 2025 will be the 4th Annual Day of Healing
